The South Carolina Straw poll produced some unique results – putting John McCain above Rudy Giuliani, Putting Duncan Hunter in the top three, placing Sam Brownback above Mitt Romney, and putting Romney in fifth place. However, the poll had limited turnout (only 800 out of an expected 1,000 to 1,500) and was hampered by severe weather, possibly causing some voters to stay home.
The bigger straw poll comes out tomorrow at about 4:30 PM, when CPAC will announce the winners of its internal poll. CPAC is an extremely conservative group, so candidates like Mitt Romney and Duncan Hunter could place very well. I’m pretty busy tomorrow, but I’ll try to post the results as soon as I can get them.
