A Bad Day for McCain

Is John McCain part of the “second tier”? Well, that depends on how you look at things, but the fact that he is closer in support levels to Mike Huckabee than Mitt Romney is deffinately not good news. Here is today’s Rasmussen tracking poll:
Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll – August 29, 2007
Rudy Giuliani – 25%
Fred Thompson [...]

Not Until October?

 From The Politico:

“But previous indications that he’d announce the day after the holiday to participate in the Fox News-sponsored GOP debate in New Hampshire on Sept. 5 now appear to be inoperative. One Thompson source wouldn’t reveal exactly when the launch would come but conceded that Thompson’s presence at the forum was “very unlikely”

There were [...]

The End of Early Campaigns?

More than any election in the past, the 2008 Presidential Primary race started early – with some candidates declaring their intentions to run even before the 2006 Congressional elections had been completed. So, what has the early campaigning achieved? Not much. Millions of more dollars have been spent, and we are seeing more advertising earlier, [...]

Romney Rising?

Its too early to tell weather this poll is simply skewed, or weather Romney really is increasing again, but at least for now, Romney is within 7% of the lead (which is shared by Giuliani and Thompson). Here is the poll:
Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll – August 28, 2007
Rudy Giuliani – 23%
Fred Thompson – 23%
Mitt Romney [...]

Rasmussen Update

The last Rasmussen poll that I saw before I left for the weekend showed that Giuliani may have been heading back into the 30% region. The latest poll out today, however, shows that the race lacks a clear leader. Rudy is still in the lead, but that lead is extremely small, and within the margin [...]

A Busy Weekend

Yes, I know, I have not been online this weekend. I was at a family wedding and forgot to put up a post letting my readers know that I would not be able to update the site. It also looks like I took a break during one of the busier news weekends. I just got [...]

Those Who Do Not Remember the Past…

…are doomed to repeat it. Such is the case with Fred Thompson, Fmr. Actor and current non-candidate, who may have found himself staging an unfortunate repeat of Michael Dukakis’ infamous ride in an M1 Abrams tank.
For Thompson, there is no tank, and there is no scheduled photo-op. Instead, Thompson was caught driving, or rather, being [...]

Romney’s Western Appeal

I’ve talked before about the fact that Romney lacks a physical base of support. Usually, when a candidate runs for the Presidency, they have an easy time in their home state. This is seen in the current race by Giuliani, McCain, and even Thompson. All lead in their home states, and all by considerable margins. [...]

Did Fred Thompson Break Campaign Finance Laws?

I’m no expet on CF laws, but this guy certainly thinks he is. He also seems to think that Fred Thompson has violated said laws – and has filed a complaint with the FEC. This is serious, because, if Thompson is guilty, he could face sanctions. Weather he can be barred from the race, I’m not [...]

Eggnog Primaries?

I mentioned in my short post yesterday that Michigan was moving their primary up to January 12, 2008. At first, I didn’t think that it would force many changes to the priamry schedule, because it was not before Iowa or New Hampshire, and was not a Southern state, allowing S.C. to keep it’s current date [...]
