Thompson: Abortion Decision “must be made by the woman”

tip off: The American Spectator

1994 Seems to have been a popular year for Republicans to support abortion “rights.” We all know that Mitt Romney promised to defend a woman’s right to choose in debate against Ted Kennedy, but The American Spectator brings us new information (the first confirmed comment relating to something I have posted about before) showing that Thompson said the government should “leave abortion alone” and that the decision to have an abortion “must be made by a woman.” He has since changed positions (like Romney), and all is better for it.

I don’t think that Thompson or Romney should be challenged or demonized for their changes, but I do think they should be treated the same. To attempt to discredit Romney for his change while elevating Thompson as a “true Conservative” is disgustingly hipocritical.
