Before Romney can win the nomination from Rudy Giuliani, he first must prove that he is better than Fred Thompson. What better way to do this than by completely overshadowing Thompson when he makes his first trip to South Carolina on June 27? Romney needs to pick up S.C. anyway, in order to claim a lead in all three traditional “fist states.”
Romney should blitz South Carolina from the 25-28, complete with ads, town-hall meetings, and armies of volunteers holding events and knocking on doors. Romney himself needs to emphasize his two major advantages over Fred Thompson: experience and leadership. Romney is the better candidate, but he needs to get that message out to the people in S.C.
