Crisis in Gaza

I’m sure that, by now, all of my readers are aware of the Civil War in the Palestinian Territories. What started as the election of terrorist politicians in the 2006 elections has split the territory in two. This has completely destroyed any hope for a two state solution in the near future. It looks like Hamas has completely taken over Gaza, and I fully expect they will make an attempt to take the West Bank soon. They are outnumbered by 3-1, yet appear to be winning the war. At this rate, I think it is in the best interests of the United States for Fatah to triumph over the terrorists. It is, perhaps, the lesser of two evils, but I think we can work with President Abbas – Israel is willing to sit down with him and vise-versa. He seems to desire a peaceful two-state solution – which is the best outcome possible.

Unless there is a serious comeback by Fatah, I think there has to be talk about sending in the U.N., NATO, or perhaps Arab League peacekeepers (or maybe a bit more) to stop this violence. Obviously, the Hamas Terrorists have to be killed or jailed.

I’ll keep you updated.
