Romney Polls Better Against Clinton than Giuliani

At least for now, I don’t think we will be hearing much about “electability” on the Republican side.  Pretty much since the start of the race, Republicans have listened to a near-constant speech from Rudy Giuliani supports as to why we should support their candidate, even if we disagree with him on important issues. Much of that argument is based in the political (and in my opinion, highly disputable) concept of electability – the idea that one candidate has the best chance of beating the nominee from the opposing party. Many, though not all, Giuliani supports argued that, since the polls showed him as the only candidate able to beat Hillary Clinton, he should be people’s first choice. Well, he is no longer the only candidate able to beat Clinton, in fact, no Republican currently has an advantage. However, For Giuliani, the news is even worse. Not only is Giuliani now trailing Clinton, but he does worse against her than two other candidate – two candidates who usually trail him in the GOP primary by at least a 2-1 margin. Here are the latest Rasmussen polls:

Hillary Clinton – 44%
John McCain – 43%

Hillary Clinton – 47%
Mitt Romney – 41%

Hillary Clinton – 48%
Rudy Giuliani – 41%

Hillary Clinton – 52%
Fred Thompson – 37%

Very Interesting.
