Well, easy come, easy go. I knew the last two weeks before the Iowa Caucus (now just 15 days away) would be a wild ride, but I have to admit that I did not believe Huckabee to lose the lead this early. The latest poll has Romney up by just a couple of percentage points among likely voters, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. The results can be found here.
A word of caution: caucus states are hard to poll, and this is a fairly big (though not by any means impossible) shift, so we should probably wait until at least the next poll to decide exactly how close they are. Rasmussen is supposed to have a poll out tomorrow, so we are just going to have to wait and see. If Romney is within 5% in the latest poll, he has an excellent chance of re-taking the lead in time for the actual voting. A bigger spread would make things a little more difficult, and a lead for Romney might be worth celebrating.
